My nephew Aurrie is in jail right now and facing up to 40 years in prison. It goes without saying, he shouldn’t have done what he did. He’s  just turned 18 years old and right now, he could be in prison until he’s 58. Let that sink in for a minute. To say the least our family is rocked to the core by this.

It’s hard to put into words, what it’s like to endure this. And what’s really sad is, I have a number of friends locked down right now.  You see it on TV or you hear about it, but being in the situation is totally different. Let this be a wake up call, that these people will lock your ass up and throw away the key like it ain’t nothing.

While in a recent court date the Bailiff said, ” The warden said keep my prison FULL!” He said it like it was nothing. He said it like prison is a hotel and he wanted all the rooms full.

I think about Aurrie and I think about my other hommies doing anywhere from 3- 51 years and I can’t help but feel a lost.  I think about the concert I did many years ago in Angola State Penitentiary in Louisiana for the lifers and I hate that my some of my closet homeboys are now on that side of the fence.

Shit is real out here. Them folks don’t mine burying you.
